Are You and Your Spouse on the Same Financial Page?
Last night my husband, Brad, and I attended a seminar in Nashville called Money & Marriage sponsored by Ramsey Solutions. The seminar was about 2 1/2 hours long, and there were about 2,500 people in attendance. They also had it streamed live. If you and your spouse have money disagreements, I would strongly encourage you to attend any way you can.
The presenters were Dr. Les Parrott, best selling author and psychologist, and Rachel Cruze, best selling author and daughter of Dave Ramsey.
The premise of the seminar was how to communicate and understand each other, and then use that understanding to begin a money conversation. During the seminar, Dr. Les Parrott spoke about Love Talks, while Rachel Cruze spoke about Money Talks. I’m going to focus on the Money Talks in this article.
I wanted to point you to some article or video online that talked about these Money Talks and found this video from the Rachel Cruze Show talks about 6 Money Talks. The seminar only had 5 Money Talks, and I narrowed it down to 4 Money Talks (one of them didn’t seem to fit).
Use the sentences in quotes as a jump start to a discussion with your spouse or significant other.
Story Talk - “in my house growing up, money was…”
Fear Talk - “My top financial fear is…”
Dream Talk - “One of my biggest dreams is…”
Giving Talk - “When it comes to money, I am a {calculated, emotionally led} giver.”
I hope this information starts a good money conversation between you and your spouse!
